Coffee and Research Beans | Women in the Built Environment | Past session: May 18th

The initiative “coffee and research beans” has been recently launched at the University of East London, London, UK.

The project stems from the need to explore the gender gap in the built environment sector, from two perspectives: showcasing the successes and discussing the challenges faced by female AEC professionals.

The first chapter of the initiative includes a series of meetings with women working in the built environment sector both in the academia and in the industry, at different career stages, who will deliver light talks or will be interviewed, sharing their personal experience and nurturing constructive conversations about the covered topics. The second chapter will then listen to the voice of men working in the sector.

The Forum will play an important role with positive impacts as a ripple down effect to the whole community. A bean at the time, the project aims to proactively make real changes through concrete proposals and an ongoing manifesto shaped on the need to make our societies more inclusive and diverse, then sustainable.

The next session will take place on May 18th at 12:00 p.m. GMT in room DL.4.05 (UEL Docklands campus) and will include a conversation with Prof Anusha Shah (Senior Director, Resilient Cities, Arcadis, Senior Vice President ICE, Non-Exec Director- Met Office, RAE Visiting Professor King’s College).
